Air India's Cadet Pilot Programme provides a pathway through professional pilot training, including a Commercial Pilot Licence and type rating. Its selection process considers both the abilities needed for training and the way applicants communicate and work with people.

What the Course Covers
Numerical Reasoning and Critical Thinking
Lessons develop calculation accuracy, interpretation of numerical information and the ability to draw a conclusion from the evidence given. Students work through unfamiliar questions, compare possible approaches and examine where their reasoning went wrong.
Spatial Awareness and Assessment Familiarisation
Preparation introduces spatial reasoning and the demands of tasks involving attention, coordination and competing information. Students learn to read task instructions carefully and understand what an exercise requires before attempting it.
Working Under Pressure
Timed practice helps students recognise where they lose time, rush a calculation or overlook a condition. Review focuses on decisions made during the task so that the next attempt has a clear purpose.
Group Assessment Preparation
The course covers listening, contributing to a shared task, explaining a proposal and responding constructively to disagreement. The aim is to make a useful contribution while remaining aware of the rest of the group.
Panel Interview Preparation
Students develop clear accounts of their background, motivation and understanding of pilot training. Mentoring helps them explore their own examples of learning, discipline, teamwork and handling a difficult situation.
Selection Process and Assessment Pattern
Air India publishes the following broad stages:
- Online application and screening
- Technical evaluation covering critical thinking, numerical reasoning, performance under pressure, motor skills and spatial awareness
- Non-technical evaluation through group assessment and a panel interview
The public programme page does not give one fixed question count or test duration. Assessment instructions are supplied through the official selection process.

Regular testing helps make progress visible. Students can use mentoring to discuss recurring errors, areas they find difficult and the questions they are struggling to answer clearly.
Who Is This Preparation For?
Applicants preparing for Air India's cadet selection, including students who want to strengthen numerical work and communication before applying.
Published entry conditions include Indian citizenship or OCI status, age 18–30, at least 60% overall in 10+2 and 60% each in English, Mathematics and Physics. Medical and other admission conditions also apply.
