About the Programme
Singapore Airlines recruits Ab Initio Cadet Pilots through its own careers process. Selected candidates undertake professional pilot training through Singapore Flying College in Singapore and overseas, followed by further training towards a First Officer role.
Prepare with IFA
For an applicant, a strong interview begins with a clear understanding of the career they are choosing. IFA's Singapore Airlines preparation combines assessment practice with thoughtful work on motivation, communication and personal experience.
Students develop their reasoning and learn to describe their own actions precisely. Mentoring helps them move beyond broad statements such as "I work well in a team" and explain what they contributed in a real situation.
What the Course Covers
Computer Assessment Preparation
Work on numerical interpretation, logical reasoning and attention gives students a foundation for unfamiliar computer-based tasks. These are IFA preparation areas; Singapore Airlines does not publish a detailed test-module syllabus on its public cadet page.
Following Instructions and Managing Time
Practice develops a deliberate approach to reading rules, choosing an answer and maintaining accuracy. Review helps students recognise which types of question need more subject work and which require a change in approach.
Interview Preparation
Students explore their interest in Singapore Airlines, understanding of pilot training and reasons for committing to the profession. Personal examples help them discuss reliability, responsibility, adapting to change and learning from an unsuccessful attempt.
Communication and Professional Judgement
Preparation develops clear explanations, attentive listening and thoughtful responses to follow-up questions. Students practise acknowledging uncertainty and explaining how they would seek the information needed to make a decision.
Understanding the Cadet Commitment
Mentoring encourages applicants to consider the demands of training away from home, sustained study and working in a professional team. The aim is an informed account of their career choice.
Selection Process and Assessment Pattern
Singapore Airlines lists online application, a computer assessment test, interviews and a medical check-up among its recruitment stages. The public cadet page does not specify a universal question count, test duration or named assessment platform — the recruitment invitation provides the applicable instructions.
What IFA Offers
Testing supports regular review of academic work. Mentoring allows students to develop their own interview examples and discuss questions about how to present their background clearly.
